CRA Bumping Races
Entry Form and Information

An ENTRY FORM is attached for the CRA Bumping Races, together with a copy of the current RULES, some of which have been altered or renumbered this year. Note Rule 2.1 with regards to the electronic listing of crew names and any alterations made before or during racing. If your club does not have access to a computer please let me know now, otherwise we shall assume that you can all comply . ALL NAMES must only have first name and the surname and be in normal sentence case eg Mandy Smith.

There is also a summary of the rules which must be read by all coxes, coaches, crew captains and marshals etc. Note that crews must be accompanied by at least one follower, who is there to assist the cox (rule 3.6) and also to help with the general safety of the races.

It is up to the Club to ensure that all boats and coxes comply with the ARA Water Code, but all boats must have a proper bowball properly fixed, the coxes must wear a lifejacket (preferable to give the cox some protection to the back in case of being hit by an oar) or buoyancy aid and the heel restraints must be correctly fitted. Note that the age of rowers and coxes is restricted.

There will be a static marshal equipped with a loudhailer, a flag and a radio positioned near First Post Corner, near Grassy corner, and at the Railway Bridge. Their main duty will be to warn of a blocked river and if necessary to stop the race and also to control pleasure boats. These marshals, the Senior Umpires and the Paramedics, (who will be in attendance,) will all have a CRA radio and must be contacted should an accident occur.

The club will be fined if their marshals are not in attendance

It is up to you to get the form to me at the '99 Boathouse before entries close at 8.30pm on Monday 14 July.

There will be a meeting of the CRA Delegates committee, at which representatives from all co-opted clubs should also attend, at the ' 99 Boathouse on Tuesday 15 July at 8.30 pm

It is important that all coxes must have attended a meeting in accordance with rule 2.14 so that they can all fully understand the rules of Bumps racing and the importance of safety matters and so that new coxes can receive help and advice. Any person who has agreed to act as a marshal, particularly those acting for the first time, should also attend.

These meetings will be held at the '99 Boathouse on Thursday 17 July at 8.00 pm and 9.15 with an additional (for those unavailable on Thursday) on Monday 21 July at 9.15. (If these times are impossible you must let me know)

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE SEEN BY ALL MEMBERS SO DO NOT JUST IGNORE IT BUT PLEASE COPY AND SPREAD ABOUT YOUR CLUB AND ENSURE THAT THE ENTRY FORM GETS TO THE RIGHT PERSON.
