1) Numbers
Numbers will be available at the City boathouse from 7.30am. To assist with marshalling, numbers will be issued as follows:

• Eights & Fours – Three numbers. One for cox and two for bow. Bow to wear one on race kit, and the other on whatever is to be worn to go to the start.
• Small Boats – Two numbers. One on race kit, and the other on whatever is to be worn to go to the start.

START - The race will start from the upstream side of the A14 road bridge. Please ensure that you pass the finish AT LEAST 20 MINUTES before your division is due to start, to allow adequate time to reach the start and be marshalled to your starting position before the division start time. Any crew not passing the finish 20 minutes prior to the start time will be turned back. Any crew arriving late (after the division start time) at the start will be awarded a time penalty.

A red flag will be displayed on the Green Dragon Bridge once the 20-minute deadline has passed, to indicate that the Division is closed.

All competitors must proceed directly to the start, and not spin to practice downstream. Any crew doing so will be awarded a time penalty. Competitors and coaches are reminded of the need for courtesy to other river users, including walkers and anglers.

The first 10 crews in each division should note carefully their specific marshalling instructions:Your boat must pull over in reverse-start-order on the left hand bank before the A14 Bridge. Boat 1 furthest away, and boat 10 nearest to the bridge. Numbered stakes will be in place to show where to pull over. All the other crews will row past you to marshal further down the river. The race marshal on First Post Corner will give a verbal reminder to pull over, but the responsibility to pull over remains yours.

• On command from the start marshal (which will come after the last boat has passed through) all 'top 10' boats will be asked to push off and row down in reverse-start-order past the start. Boats are encouraged to overlap slightly making full use of the width of the river. Self evidently the higher numbered boats will need to row further down the river to allow room for the lower numbered boats to pass the start and have room to get going. The 10th boat needs to row about 180m downstream to the point at which the river starts to turn to the right.
• On command from the start marshals the lowest numbered boats only will be asked to spin first and start the race.
• On command very soon after the remaining 'top 10' boats will then be asked to spin and start the race in sequence. It is important that your boat does not spin until asked to do so. If there is insufficient space for the lowest numbered boats to spin and get started your crew may be asked to row further down the river. Much easier to do that going forward.
• Crews failing to pull over or follow instructions from the start marshals, spinning before being asked to do so or ignorant of the above instructions, thereby contributing to a division delay, are likely to be penalised by 10sec.

Finish - All crews must keep rowing after the finish, until they have passed under the Green Dragon Bridge, to prevent the river becoming blocked for following crews. Once back at the boathouse crews doubling up in adjacent divisions are asked not to leave their boats in the water as it blocks the bank for other crews wishing to boat.

3) Results
The results will be available from the City boathouse as soon as possible after the race. Those compiling the results would point out that enquiring every five minutes “are the results done yet?” does not aid their progress. After the third leg, the prize-giving will take place at the City boathouse, as soon as the results have been checked. Only those who have completed all three legs will be eligible.
